Off to Nasca
After about 17 hours in Paracas, we hopped a bus to Nasca–about 4 hours away–and crossed something off of my bucket list that really was not on my list, but had add retroactively after I had done it and survived. In Nasca, I got in a 6 person plane and did a 30 minute fly over of the Nasca Lines. For the record, small planes are not my thing and I have never had a desire to get in one. But after many prayers and after safely touching down on land, I guess that I am glad that I did it.
There are many theories on the reasons the ancient civilizations drew the lines into the desert–ranging from communicating to aliens to spiritual rituals aimed at bringing water. Trying to find some of the lines is almost like trying to find Waldo, but some others were quite spectacular. I hope that my camera did them justice.
