Salt Lake City, Utah
QUIP
One word association: Mormons. If you are Mormon, Mormon curious, or just want to meet a plethora of Mormons in one place, Salt Lake City is your spot. Everyone was very nice and seemed to go out of their way to be helpful. I assumed that the Mormons didn’t care much for colored folks, so it was pleasant to see that my pre-conceived notions were wrong. This is a great day trip, although I don’t know that I would spend more than that unless you plan to go skiing or hiking in surrounding areas.
GETTING AROUND
Downtown SLC it’s a short, easy 10-15 cab ride from the airport to downtown SLC. Once downtown, you can ride the light rail system for free within the ‘fare free zone’ which encompases most of downtown (see http://www.rideuta.com/uploads/FreeFareZone_April2012_large.jpg.) The city is very well laid out, and easy to navigate, with the center of the city starting at Temple Square and the streets increasing in numerical order by block.
